Demotions

Is there a proper procedure for demoting players who are minors eligible? Example sending Huff back to the minors as he did not make the team.

Once a player is on your 40 man roster, the only option to remove him is to DFA him.  Which means you have 7 days to trade him or waive him.   If you place the player on waivers and he clears you can either send him to the minors or release him and pay his salary as a cap hit. 

But you can't just demote him without DFAing him because he didn't make the real life MLB team.

Yes that does make sense. I don't want to remove him from my 40 man I just want to send him to the minors and not have him on my bench. I cannot do that without the player clearing waivers?

You can't send him to the minors without sending him through waivers.  

Your 40 on Fantrax consists of your 19 starters and your 21 bench.  So he will need to remain on your bench if you don't want to send him to waivers.
